Enjoy A Beach Holiday To Cancun

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009
When you think about a beach holiday, consider going to Cancun. The white sandy beaches with the blue waters in the background are what make Cancun more stunning than any area around. If you think about it, Cancun is one big beach. If you are taking the little ones to the beaches, they will have no problem playing in the sand in the bright sunlight. The sand is airy and composed of plankton fossils, which gives it a cool feeling rather than a hot feeling under your feet. It is truly a delightful place to enjoy the beach.

If you are looking for a great area to do some snorkeling in Cancun, the Westin Regina area has the best place to snorkel. If you think you need a little privacy for topless sunbathing, the beaches do not frown on this practice, but it depends what the area hotel has to say about the practice. Your beach holiday will be one of the best holidays you have ever had. You can swim in the Caribbean or swim in the Nichupte Lagoon. The Bahia de Mujees is great for swimming because of the low waves. The Caribbean is where you will find the waves for surfing and scuba diving.

The Nichupte Lagoon is a nice place to swim, but the crocodiles that live in the area, may leave people with a bit of skepticism. They crocodiles are said to be harmless and not aggressive, but one can never believe that a crocodile is harmless. You would be better enjoying the other area beach locations than the lagoon. Many of the area restaurants do feed the crocodiles for visitors to see. This alone can make someone a little leery about swimming. Your beach holiday can be enjoyed without seeing the crocodiles.

When you are planning your beach holiday for your holiday to Cancun, you will want to schedule some time for sightseeing. Try the submarine tour by Playa Linda beach. This is an incredible experience, but if you are afraid of tight quarters, you might need to skip the tour. It is amazing to see the underwater activity without getting wet. Many of the beaches are located near the restaurants and shopping malls. One beach in particular that is ideal for children is accessible by going through the Xcaret bus terminal. Cancun has more beach space and accessing some the popular spots requires going through the building and establishments that build up in front of the beaches.

Your beach holiday to Cancun can include beaches during the day and some fun and exciting nightlife after dark. The sun goes down and the people come out for some live entertainment and dancing. The clubs have karaoke, dancing, live bands and some have a quiet environment for relaxing. You will even find a piano bar. You will enjoy a beach holiday to Cancun because the beaches are exciting and the water is just right for swimming and everything else.

Beach Holidays in Bulgaria

Monday, June 15th, 2009
Bulgaria has a long coastline along the Black sea bordered by Turkey to the south and Romania to the north. Along this stretch, one can find large international resorts, ancient towns, big cities, and numerous villages. Bulgaria’s resorts are not newcomers to the international holiday market. During its 40 years of communism, Bulgaria was the main beach destination for the Soviet bloc countries, greeting hundreds of thousands of Russians, Poles, East Germans and others from that side of the Berlin wall. It took about 10 years after the fall of communism for the tourism industry to reinvigorate, however. For a decade, the resorts experienced almost no development. Then, going along with the global property boom, billions of dollars were poured into Bulgaria transforming its coastline, its ski resorts and its major cities. Now, the country is frequented by British, Irish, German and other tourists from Western Europe along with the traditional tourists from the East. Bulgarians themselves, after period of tough transition with hyperinflation, banking crisis, declining incomes and sky-high unemployment, started traveling again at the turn of the century. Now, the beach resorts in Bulgaria offer a spectacular mixture of cultures from every corner of Europe.

The two largest resorts are Sunny Beach and Golden Sands. Golden Sands is on the north coast, about 20 km from the sea capital of Bulgaria Varna. Sunny Beach is on the southern coast, also nearby a large city - Bourgas. A number of international flights arrive in both Varna and Bourgas from major European cities year round. One can also reach Varna and Bourgas by flying into the capital of Sofia and then taking a bus ride that lasts about 6 hours. Sunny Beach is by far the largest resort, accommodating hundreds of thousands of tourists each summer. It offers 5-star hotels, dozens of three and four star hotels and many apartment complexes where tourists can rent a private apartment. Golden Sands is smaller because its expansion is constrained by the steep hills surrounding its beach. However, the mixture of beach and forest is a major attraction to many tourists. Other popular resorts include Albena situated near Golden Sands, and Duni on the southern coast.

Besides the resorts, the two most famous destinations on the Bulgarian Black sea coast are Nessebar and Sozopol. Both are ancient Greek fishing town, thousands of years old, that have preserved much of their historic character. Nessebar is a UNESCO - protected historical destination. Both towns are splendidly picturesque built on top of large rock overlooking the sea. The architecture of the towns is unique, making for wonderful walks through their cobblestoned streets and along the promenades surrounding each of them. They also offer dozens of accommodation options including hotels and apartments, as well as numerous restaurants, bars, and shops. There is really something for everyone. And indeed everyone seems to come in the high season of July and August. It may therefore not be a bad idea to visit in May, June or September. The weather is still wonderful, all shops and restaurants are open but the crowds are smaller. And prices are significantly lower.

Isola D’elba, a Memorable Trip for Italian Beach Holidays

Thursday, June 4th, 2009
Holiday’s…. mere mention of the word leaves a smile on the face and a sparkle in the eyes. All of us want to go away for a while from our routine mundane demanding lives. We want to spend some quality time with our loved ones, ourselves and above all with nature. But the million-dollar question is where to holiday?

Let me take you to a new holiday destination, which I am sure you have not visited yet. Elba island is an Italian island located in the Tuscan Archipelago. Sun, sea, beaches and a memorable holiday trip are guaranteed here. The island that is situated about 10km from the mainland can be accessed by a ferry, taking about an hour’s time. Elba is an island that welcomes you with a warm smile that’s all embracing…the vast seas, the beautiful beaches, and the green countryside all welcome you to the island. Elba Island is sure to thrill you with its natural beautiful landscapes and tourist spots. The climate here is typical as like of most marine climates. You can look forward to a mild weather here even during the winter season. Rains here are very scarce.

Rocky coastlines, cliffs, sandy beaches, beaches with pebble stones, sunny windy shorelines, and green pastures of land are all going to give you a beautiful sight that you are bound to remember for ages. The beaches of Elba are many and each one is unique in itself. On one hand you may see long golden beaches, on the other you may come across a beautiful beach of black sand. Beaches with tiny stones, those with white pebbles are a rare sight that is common here on Elba Island. Cliffs of smooth granite rocks, crystal clear seas, luxurious hilltops with fragrant sweet smelling flowers, woods with trees that have stood for ages, small villages by the sea or on the ridges, all make a spectacular sight.

Apart from its natural bewitching beauty Elba is a paradise for all those who enjoy and love nature sports. The island of Elba offers a variety of memories for the tourists. Trekking, mountain biking, squab diving, windsurfing, sailing, fishing, Para-gliding, golf are some of the adventure sports you can look forward to.

The holiday to Elba islands would be incomplete without getting a taste of their cuisine. The flavors of the cuisines here are exotic. You can get a good catch here that smells and tastes good too…I meant the fish it’s excellent and worth trying. And to give you a little high the island offers an array of fine wines red, white and sweet dessert wines are a must have.

Shopping can be a wonderful activity when one is relaxed and has leisure time. A holiday without some local shopping is not complete. Elba Island has a lot to offer on this front too. You can find typical Elba hand made products that will make for interesting souvenir. Mineral shops, shops selling antiques, boutiques, souvenir stalls will all help you find that special thing that you would want to take back home from Elba island.

I am sure that the visit to Elba Island will make a memorable trip. It will charge you up for the hectic schedule that will step in once you return from the holiday. Take that much needed holiday now you know where to go. Visit Elba and do remember me when there. Enjoy the holiday. See ya.

Africa for your Next Beach Holiday?

Sunday, May 10th, 2009
The Dark Continent of Africa probably does not Jump to mind as the first destination you would choose when planning a holiday at the beach, but there are many great reasons to give it a try.

The Cape in South Africa has up until very recently always been “the” location to visit if you felt like going to Africa to enjoy the beach as well as all the other great things that only this great continent has to offer.

There are now new kids in town and places like Zanzibar off the coast of Tanzania, Mombasa in Kenya and the stunning beaches in The Gambia have really come in to their own each offering their own unique perspective of Africa but all wonderful beach holiday locations.

Winter Sun Holiday Destination

An obvious reason to pick somewhere on the African continent is to enjoy the beach during the European winter, breaking up your winter and escaping the summer holiday rush. How often these days do we hear of long delays at airports during the summer peak holiday period, delaying thousands of people going on holiday and destroying their few weeks away from the daily grind of work? So escape the rush and go on holiday out of the peak season.

South Africa and Cape Town as a beach holiday Location

Cape Town, right on the bottom tip of Africa is still the most sophisticated beach vacation location in Africa, with the incredible backdrop of Table Mountain, excellent accommodation options and some of the finest places to eat in the world it would be an excellent place to visit even without the beautiful beaches. On top of that you can also enjoy the finest wines and scenery of South Africa on the Garden Route, which stretches from Mossel Bay to the Storms River in the Western Cape. There are ten nature reserves in the area as well as unique marine reserves, home to soft coral reefs, dolphins, seals and a host of other marine life.

Including a round of Golf with your beach holiday has always been popular in places like Spain and The USA, South Africa and the Cape Region have some of the finest Golf courses in the world, now you can combine a beach, golf and safari holiday all in one location, there is nowhere in Europe that can boast that!

So what are the beaches like?

Cape Town has some excellent beaches, False Bay with the long sandy beach which extends from Gordon’s Bay to Muizenberg and includes Boulders Beach and Simon’s Town. The Atlantic Seaboard along the West (Atlantic) side of the Cape Peninsula with well known beaches including Sandy Bay, Clifton Camps Bay, Scarborough and Kommetjie. The West Coast, running Northwards from Cape Town with the windy conditions make these beaches popular for surfing and kite-surfing.

An important point to note is the sea in False Bay is about 6 degrees warmer than the Atlantic Seaboard and the West Coast!

on the negative side, Cape Town is the furthest point in Africa you can travel to from Europe, so expect a long flight around ten hours). Also mentioned above the water can be a little chilly and then it is probably one of the more expensive locations in Africa.

Beach Holiday in Mombasa, Kenya

Kenya is probably mostly thought of for it’s African wildlife safaris on the Masai Mara but also has plenty to offer in the way of beach holidays on the coastline near Mombasa. The city of Mombasa is a typical African city and there is in stark contrast to the sophistication of Cape Town. There are however many excellent restaurants to eat enabling you to sample some more traditional African food as well as those catering to western palates. The old part of Mombasa is also well worth visiting and Fort Jesus, a Portuguese fort built in 1593 by order of King Philip II of Spain, to guard the Old Port of Mombasa, Kenya. It was built in the shape of a man and was given the name of Jesus as a religious reference.

On the coast there are many of places to stay with some of the most luxurious hotels you’ll find anywhere in Africa as well as some fantastic beach huts and cottages as well as basic beach side camp-sites, all in all there is something for everyone.

The scuba diving and snorkelling in Mombasa and the surrounding areas is also excellent and makes a great place to learn to dive with the prices here are much cheaper than many other well know diving locations. Bamburi beach is a great location to base your beach holiday in East Africa, about half an hour from Nairobi, there are some great hotels and beach cottages as well as an excellent PADI dive center located at the well know Travelers Beach Hotel.

Beach and Safari Holiday in Kenya

Obviously no trip to Kenya would be complete without some sort of wildlife safari and they can be organized from Mombasa with a popular destination being the Tsavo National Park, which not as well known as the Masai Mara, but at just over 21,000km sq, Tsavo is the largest national park in Kenya and one of the largest in the world with large herds of Elephant and plenty of lions, it is definitely worth visiting if you want to take a break from relaxing on the beach!

With these two very different African beach holiday options, I hope to have given you a just a flavour of what Africa can offer you in the way of your next seaside holiday.

Gold Coast Beach Holidays

Monday, May 4th, 2009
Queensland’s Gold Coast is internationally famous for its beaches. We have about a 50km stretch of sun drenched beaches, where the water is warm enough to swim every day of the year. The water at its coldest, in the dead of winter, is around 19° C. So its pretty easy to see why we love our beaches here, and why so many people visit us just to spend a few weeks relaxing on the beach.

Here are some more reasons why our beaches are so popular

For the Surfers

From Duranbah in New South Wales through to The Other Side (TOS) at South Stradbroke Island, we have beach after beach of world class waves to surf. We have some of the most famous reef breaks in the world, with Snapper Rocks and Burleigh Heads constantly producing amazingly long right handers. And it is at these point breaks that we host the first ASP World Championship Tour event, during February - March every year.

If you are a little like me though, and are happy to trade off a small amount of wave quality, for a large amount of the crowds, our beach breaks are just the thing. We have mile after mile after mile of sandy beach breaks. The more famous of these beaches include Kirra and of course Surfers Paradise. Some lessor known beach names include Main Beach, Mermaid Beach, Nobby’s Beach, Tugan and Miami. There is rarely a day where there is an unridden break or two along the magnificent Gold Coast Stretch

Its little wonder this stretch has produced such a host of Aussie surfing champions, including the current aspiring World Champions, Mick Fanning, Parko and Dean Morrison.

For the Swimmers and Tanners

The Gold Coast Weather combined with the temperate water temperature makes our beaches ideal for swimming and tanning all year round. Sure, sometimes it gets a bit “nippy” here in winter, but it is a rarer July and August (June - August are winter in the Southern Hemisphere) not to see people tanning on the beach, than to see them there. The beautiful 20 - 24° C days of sitting in the sun in the middle of winter are the rule, not the exception.

And then there is our our ocean water temperature. As an example, I have been very warm swimming, one chilly night when the outside temperature was only 6° C, in just a pair of shorts. The water was still a beautiful 20° C. I have to admit though, it was a bit of a mad dash to the car once I was finished…

With 10 - 20 metres of sand from the water to the street, on most Gold Coast beaches, tanning, running, surfing, swimming, kitesurfing and all manner of beach activity become such a pleasure. Further, many local counsels have installed picnic areas, and beach volleyball competitions are a frequent sight. It is little wonder our beaches in themselves have become one of Australia’s premier tourist attractions.
