Holiday pack for homeless people, what should I put in it?

Saturday, March 28th, 2009
For Christmas I am planning to make a bunch of packs of goods for homeless people in my area…What should I put in it? I want to keep them relatively cheap so I can make more, any ideas?

All I can think of so far is:
-Warm blanket
-Some type of food/home made sandwhiches?

Please give me your ideas.

Hobbies: Beach Holidays for Fun in the Sun

Friday, March 27th, 2009
Everyone loves beach holidays! The little ones can dig in the sand and splash in the lapping waves. The older ones can swim, get a tan, or just relax. The inquisitive types can explore for sea life, tide pools, and drift wood. The warm breezes and natural beauty are invigorating and restorative. Any trip, however, can cause discomfort if you do not plan well. Here are things you can do to make your beach holidays easier, safer, and more meaningful.

In many parts of the world, people head for their beach holidays in the family car. When planning a trip, it’s always a good idea to give the car a good cleaning out first. This will give you more room for your luggage. Stock you glovebox, too, with a few first aid and comfort items, such as sunblock, acetominiphen for headaches, a roll of antacids, a few cough drops, and a few bandaids. Don’t forget a couple of scrunchies or pony-tailers for long hair. Get the tires checked and replace any that are likely to go flat. Get an oil change if it’s getting close. Road trips are not much fun when they include breakdowns. And whatever you do, make sure you have a map and a place to keep it handy.

Travelling with kids is always a challenge. They may be particularly excited and impatient when they know they are going on beach holidays. Make sure they have cool water bottles and healthy snacks to munch. Try a simple car game to make the time pass. Many kids like looking for letters of the alphabet on signs. If several people get involved it can be quite fun.

With beach holidays particularly, there is always a need to provide for skin safety. Be particularly careful about being in the sun for long stretches of time between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Use a sunblock with a high SPF rating and replace it after getting wet or drying off with your towel. The towel you choose can make a difference too. Thick towels get heavy and tend to trap a lot of sand. You may find you like thin towels at the beach. Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes and some sort of foot protection to keep your feet from being burned on the hot sand.

With a little preparation your beach holidays can be enjoyable and problem-free. When you arrive home you will be relaxed, refreshed, and ready for work. Take a minute to unpack and get your laundry going. It won’t belong until the kids will be shouting, “When can we go on beach holidays again?”

Finding Cheap Holidays in the Midst of Recession

Monday, March 16th, 2009
The recession has been affecting almost all people in the world today and many are cutting costs in their daily expenses. Most people even cancel their annual holiday trips. But holiday treats are what we need and what we really deserve. Everyone needs a good break and it is still possible in this time of recession. There are some ways that you can save money on your holiday vacation.

The internet is very helpful in saving costs for your holiday vacation. It allows you to search for cheap holiday packages for specific destinations. Not only that you can find cheap packages but also low-cost services like car hire, accommodation, travel insurance, and even air fares. You can also find sites where you can compare prices and some holiday deals available online. If you are flexible enough, you can take advantage of some of the great deals available online. Like the usual cheap last-minute bookings and cheap flights at some specific airports.

Looking for a travel destination beforehand can help you save a lot of expenses. By deciding on where to travel, you can then search for discount codes for tickets. There are websites that have voucher codes wherein you can save money for advanced bookings. Also, booking a holiday trip as a group or your whole family are usually cheaper rather than single bookings. Another cheap way is to have an annual pass by visiting the same attraction several times during your holiday.

Choosing to stay in a private holiday home or vacation villa can be cheaper rather than staying at a hotel. This would be a great option if you are with your family or a group because you are going to pay for the whole house instead of paying for every person. This will also save you from food expenses as it has all the facilities you need for catering, so you can do your own cooking here. If you book directly to the villa owner you can save more because you don’t have to pay for the travel agents’ fees and there are also some last-minute deals that you can avail.

Usually, people spend a huge cost in their phone calls in planning for their holidays. These people don’t realise how much they have spend in making calls abroad. One good thing to save in your phone calls is to use an international sim card. These sim cards are not too expensive so its worth your investment. You just have to insert them into your phone and top them up with pre-payment to make your calls and you can take advantage of local rates as well.

Lastly, plan for free activities that you can enjoy while on your holiday. You may content yourself in the private swimming pool or go sunbathing but there are also other free things to do, if not cheap. Try to find free events in the internet and you might be surprised to see the things you least expected. If you’re lucky enough, you can enjoy some local events in your destinations, like festivals, free concerts, and the likes.

Miami Holiday Apartments. Be At Home On Vacation

Monday, March 9th, 2009
As a holiday getaway, Florida attracts more than its fair share of tourists. Over 1.5 million Britons, for example, traveled to Florida in 2005, a staggering number when you think that the feelings towards the US throughout Europe have not been as positive as it was before 9/11.

Florida boasts some of most beautiful beaches around notwithstanding the obvious popularity of our theme parks in and around Orlando. Miami in particular with its rich diversity of people from Latin America, the Caribbean Islands, Europe and elsewhere is a unique melting post of cultures and languages.

If you travel to Miami with your family, then you will know that staying in crammed hotels, however luxurious or fancy they might be, may not be the solution for you and your family.

Miami Vacation Apartments are an ideal alternative for you and your family. They may not provide room service although some hotels have suites that are equipped with the usual amenities provided by conventional apartments, but they provide more room for your money.

Miami Holiday Apartments come in all regular combination of sizes, number of room (from one bedroom to 3 bedrooms and sometimes even more). They are fully furnished and equipped and boast the usual kitchen, lounge and dining room available in any home.

They are truly your home away from home, and with the additional space they provide, they will also most likely enable you to save a whole bunch of money on nightly rates when compared to hotel accommodation but also savings on meals taken at home rather than hotels for example.

Families can travel and explore their holiday destination and then come home to relax and rest in the privacy of their own bedrooms.

One last thing to consider when searching for a holiday apartments is that they are also called Vacation Condos, Miami Holiday Accommodation or even Vacation Apartments.

The Thing About American Vacations

Saturday, March 7th, 2009
I was thinking the other day that soon, I would have to start making plans for my next vacation. So there I was looking through my world atlas for a destination of my dreams flipping through the pages when I came across a map of North America and there it hit me. At a rate of one State a year, it would take 50 years to explore the US, 50 American Vacations that would not even scratch the surface of this great big land of ours. Indeed I remember visiting the Grand Canyon with my wife last year when we thought that one week of exploration through this incredibly beautiful land had only enabled us to see but a mere fraction and we had promised each other to return another year. I remember thinking back then that this magnificent Grand Canyon National Park had been carved by the Colorado River, a body of water moving down from a great distance and it probably took it millions of years to achieve its goal, some 6 million years ago. A piece of art, millions of years in the making but the greatest architect of all, nature, to bring us this ultimate American Vacation dream.

American Vacations are available in a multitude of packages and possibilities. Where you decide to go will depend on your area of interest and your lifestyle. If you are sporty kind, American National Parks are truly amongst the best in the world. Maintained to retain their original wild beauty they offer amenities and services to meet the needs of most tourists. Bring waking boots with you as there are as more trails then you would care to count, ranking from beginner to advanced depending on how fit you are. When taking a walking holiday, remember to follow all the safety recommendations that available at the Parks themselves or online. Too many people have been the unfortunate victims of their own ignorance when it comes to precautions, and you will want to be careful. Most national parks offer lodging of some sort, and for the more adventurous amongst you, camping might just be the thing for you!.

If you are more of sedentary type of traveler, Las Vegas vacations for example might be a destination that will appeal to you even though it might not with your bank manager’s seal of approval.

But of course, talking about every possibility offered by an American vacation would take thousands of pages which would be obsolete the moment such a book was written.

So: chose a state of interest, determine the areas you want to visit, the type of vacation you enjoy and start planning. You can get there by car, train, plane, boat and once there you can either camp, stay in a hotel, a cabin or a vacation home. It doesn’t really matter how you do it, the simple fact is that this American Land of ours is truly a gift of nature and you will likely make this next vacation of yours a holiday of a life time.

Great Gift Ideas for the Winter Holiday Season

Saturday, March 7th, 2009
It’s that special time of year; the holidays are here! Folks are putting up their decorations and lights to brighten spirits and the night sky. It’s the time for getting together with friends and family to celebrate and enjoy their company. Not to mention the terrific holiday food! It’s a time for creating lasting memories and exchanging gifts with our loved ones.

Although we all like giving and receiving gifts, choosing the right one can put extra stress on us at a time of year when we already have lots to do. There is already the cooking, cleaning, taking care of the kids, and entertaining family and friends. On top of that, we have to find an appropriate present for each recipient. Choosing a great gift in a short time span can really tax the imagination. Here’s an idea for a great gift whether you need a big present or just a tiny stocking stuffer. A gift for all ages, all tastes, and any budget: stuffed animals!

Stuffed Animals for Children

Plush toys are an obvious choice for any child. Toys are the traditional kids’ gift and will be gratefully received. Stuffed animals are a good toy choice since they are fun to play with, but they can also instill an appreciation and understanding of real animals. Some parents may not want their child to have a pet, so a stuffed pal can also be a great stand-in for an actual animal. Less responsibility and cleaning, but still great fun! Younger kids may not be ready for the more sophisticated technological gadgets that are easily broken or difficult to operate, with small buttons or confusing instructions. But stuffed animals are a simple classic that are always in style; stimulating the senses and imagination without a lot of upkeep.

Stuffed Animals for Teens

Teenagers are constantly targeted with new products and consumer goods, but that can make it tougher to pick the right gift for them. Sometimes there are just too many choices. An easy choice is a stuffed animal. In addition to the classic teddy bear, there are lots of different types available. One good plush toy for teens is the giant size animal. There are now stuffed animals that are five feet tall, as big as a person! These make great gifts for a teenage girl. The size alone makes the gift impressive, and it can be a great conversation starter when her friends see it. She could bring it along to college and decorate her dorm room with it. What a great icebreaker for someone living away from home for the first time! It can be both a friend and a way to make new friends, as well as something to hug during stressful times. A king-size stuffed toy can also be unique and different from other gifts for a teen, so keep this in mind the next time you need a gift idea for someone this age.

Stuffed Animals for Adults

Although toys are not traditionally thought of as an adult gift, they can still be a great choice. Lots of adults collect stuffed animals, so if you have to get a gift for a collector, this is a sure thing. Even if they don’t collect stuffed animals, one can still be a terrific present. The current generation of plush toys is far more realistic than the earlier ones and can be used to decorate a home. Stuffed animals are also great for personalizing an office or cubicle. They can add a friendly touch to any décor. If the gift recipient has a vacation house at the beach, a stuffed dolphin or whale could look right at home. A cabin in the woods can be brightened with a stuffed fox or moose. Just match the interior design to the animal.

So if you find yourself stumped for a gift idea or want to avoid holiday headaches, keep stuffed animals in mind. They are a good gift for all ages and tastes. They’re fun, simple, and guaranteed to bring a smile! Keep stumped animals in mind the next time you need the perfect present.
